Hay Lake Lodge's Secret
Wednesday, September 29, 2010
Do you want to know one of the best things about living at and owning Hay Lake Lodge and Cottages? Yes, living on the edge of the Algonquin Park wilderness is great. And the beauty I see every time I go kayaking or look out at the lake is amazing. Meeting people from every corner of the world is quite satisfying. But I have to admit, one of the biggest pleasures is getting compliments! And really, we get lots. Our guests tell me so many times how beautiful it is here, how clean the cabins, how wonderful the muffins and croissants. So now I think it's time to confess my secret. I get the compliments, but the credit goes to the staff. [caption id="attachment_143" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="JoAnne"][/caption] This is JoAnne. She has been my head housekeeper for almost 20 years. I always tell people I knew I wanted her to clean here when I found out she scrubs her aluminum siding (!). I always thought you got siding so you didn't have to think about it! JoAnne has taught me that just as some people are natural cooks, some people have a gift for cleaning and JoAnne is one of those people. She makes our showers literally shine. My guests love her friendly smile and are always happy to see her bringing her famous muffins at breakfast. [caption id="attachment_144" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Chantelle"][/caption] And this is Chantelle. My Dad says Chantelle never stops moving and he's right! If she finishes the list of things to do, she finds more work. Chantelle has been with us five years, had two little girls during that time, and still has the enthusiasm and energy to fold a towel and give it a special touch, or find some wild flowers to make an arrangement on the porch. She takes a personal interest in life here at the Lodge, and always goes the extra mile. So now you know Hay Lake Lodge's Secret - the best staff in the world.
